Fresh deliveries for the summer
Summer is finally upon us and that usually means fresh new titles here at MENDO. Here’s a selection of some of our favorite new books that just arrived.
Elmgreen & Dragset
Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset have been working together since 1995. The Scandinavian duo (Elmgreen is Danish, Dragset Norwegian) is based in Berlin, and has been crossing the lines of conceptual art, architecture and design on the biggest stages in the world. They’re probably best known for Van Gogh’s Ear, a vertical swimming pool in the shape of an earlobe, and of course, the infamous Prada Marfa, a Prada store in the middle of the Texan desert.
Jack Davison: Photographs
At only 28 years old Jack Davison already has a monograph that spans twelve years of his work. Aptly named Photographs, this book shows the dreamy, saturated work of the British photographer made in the earliest stages of his career. Davison has worked for the New York Times, British Vogue and many other reputable media.
Thierry Mugler: Couturissime
Mugler might not be as huge as he was during the late eighties and early nineties, his brand is still going very strong. Accompanied by an exhibition in the Montreal Museum of Fine Art, Couturissime celebrates 45 years of Thierry Mugler’s fashion business with photography made by greats such as Helmut Newton, David LaChappelle and Richard Avedon.
Mr Hudson Explores
One of the most influential gay interest travel blogs now has its own book, and it’s just as great for those who love women. Find the best places to drink cocktails, eat great dishes and cultural venues and festivals. Every city highlights local talent, which means you’ll experience every city through the eyes of someone from the local gay scene.
Yves Saint Laurent Catwalk
After Chanel, Dior and Louis Vuitton, Thames & Hudson comes with a new treatment of the Catwalk series. A complete overview of YSL’s haute couture catwalk shows from 1962 until 2002. 40 years of collections designed by the man himself. And it comes in a striking pink color to make your Catwalk collection complete.
Snoop Dogg: From Crook to Cook
Preparing a complimentary dinner for your Gin and Juice has never been made easier. Snoop Dogg (or Lion?) climbed all the way up from crook to cook and now serves us the best dishes in his world. From the best crisps to eat when having the munchies, to the best way to serve a turkey during Thanksgiving. Snoop got your back.
