See Ferry van der Nat’s ‘Originals’
Exhibition at The Ravestijn Gallery Amsterdam
Mr Jordy - one of Ferry van der Nat's muses.
From the 17th of February till the 1st of April, the Ravestijn Gallery will exhibit ‘Originals’, the work of Ferry van der Nat. At Ravestijn, Van der Nat's sensual polaroids are on display in their original form.
Dutch photographer Ferry van der Nat has been taking instant camera photographs of men for years. Many of the men he scouted made it to the major runways and fashion mags around the world.
In 2016, Van der Nat has released his first monograph, simply called ‘Mr.’: a luxurious book with just over 300 pages and 285 high quality images. If you make your way to the Ravestijn Gallery, make sure to grab a copy of the book – it’s available throughout the exhibition!
Van der Nat works with two cameras. The 1965 Polaroid Land Camera 103 sheds a greenish blue tint across the prints, seeming to distill an aura and mystery around the subjects. The second camera, the Polaroid Big Shot from 1975, is famously the same model used by Andy Warhol as he produced some of his most overtly sexual images – a mood that inspires Van der Nat’s own project.
You can visit the exhibition at the Ravestijn Gallery (Westerdoksdijk 603-A, Amsterdam).
