Selected by MENDO's Emile Almekinders
One of the best album covers around: simple, arresting, recognisable. It's even more impressive that it's recognisable as Tillman's work, despite his wide range of subjects.

I'm impressed by Lixenberg's ability to infiltrate a community and capture its stories through intimate portraits. The people she captures speak to the viewer through the photograph.

4. Pieter Hugo
One of my favorite photographers, who really captures the beauty and dissonance of South Africa. Each project in this book goes to one extreme or an other.
