Made by MENDO
About the booksWho will recognize a great book better than a bookstore? A bookstore run by graphic designers. Here’s why: at MENDO we get market feedback seven days a week, we are blessed to be surrounded by a bunch of talented, inspiring people – photographers, writers and publishers – and after being a bookstore for more than 15 years, we can easily say we know what book aficionados are looking for. Don’t you agree that initiating, creating and realizing jaw-dropping books now, only comes natural?
A MENDO publication is a well-designed book with visually stunning creative content, browsed by people to be amazed and inspired. The subject-matter is one of our pre-defined curated categories, fashion, photography, interior, sport, lifestyle, food and traveling. In general, a MENDO book is a piece of furniture in itself.

A new current
Photographer Dariusz Jasak took a bike through Amsterdam. Creating images of a jungle of concrete and glass that doesn't fit our envisioned image of Amsterdam, but is becoming more apparent everyday.
In a publication that balances between a traditional coffee table book and a premium city guide, Amsterdam Uncovered collects local and international talents to share their impressions of the city. From nature, to architecture, to restaurants, and local legends, the book aims to uncover the current highlights, as well as its history—as an ode to the city MENDO has been calling home for over seventeen years.
With three different cover designs – yellow, blue, or beige –the book’s looks fit the content. Please note, it is not possible at this time to choose the color of the book: you will be sent a color at random.
MENDO’s co-editor Mikel van den Boogaard on the book: “The amount of talent, creativity, energy, and beauty that Amsterdam has to offer is incredible, as is its ease, its size, the waters, and the diversity of its people and landscape. This book offers a glimpse of how we experience all that, and it shows why we love to be here. We have called it a metropolitan village—but for some people a village can easily become too small. This book proves otherwise.”
‘If you’re not a complete asshole or introvert, Amsterdam is an amazing city where you can make your dreams come true.’

On board of MS De Jordaan Bionda Sno spoke with three Amsterdam-based artists—RIMON, Jarreau Vandal, and Faberyayo—to talk about their success, the role Amsterdam played in that success, and their shared love for the city.
Best seats in the house is a series of our favorite places to eat, portrayed literally by means of their seats, by photographer Calvin Pausania. Our favorite spots include Hotel de Goudfazant, Foodware, Eiburgh Snacks, BAK, NewWerktheater, and many more.

We sent master of nature photography Rein Kooyman to explore what’s left of natural environment in Amsterdam. He went to Oosterpark, Vondelpark, and Noorderpark to prove that beyond the obvious concrete jungle, there’s also a little bit of “real” jungle left.
