Made by MENDOAbout the books
Who will recognize a great book better than a bookstore? A bookstore run by graphic designers. Here’s why: at MENDO we get market feedback seven days a week, we are blessed to be surrounded by a bunch of talented, inspiring people – photographers, writers and publishers – and after being a bookstore for more than 15 years, we can easily say we know what book aficionados are looking for. Don’t you agree that initiating, creating and realizing jaw-dropping books now, only comes natural?
A MENDO publication is a well-designed book with visually stunning creative content, browsed by people to be amazed and inspired. The subject-matter is one of our pre-defined curated categories, fashion, photography, interior, sport, lifestyle, food and traveling. In general, a MENDO book is a piece of furniture in itself.
Coco Capitán disappears into the sea
Accompanied by a new text by curator and writer Charlotte Eytan, the book documents and expands upon Capitán’s explorations of adventure and belonging through her imagined collective: the lost naïvy.
Capitán takes the sea and its attendant themes of adventure and isolation as a framework through which to reimagine a collection of works; some are new, some are old, and as is characteristic for the multimedia artist, the selection spans multiple mediums: photographs sit alongside paintings, ephemera next to handwritten texts.
Designed by OK-RM, the book is conceptualised as an archived book object, the outer cover represents a library binding that encompasses the discreet publication mounted inside. The outer cover features a selection of stickers – making each book unique.
Explore this presentation of work revolved around Coco Capitán’s longstanding fascination with the sea and the mythology of maritime culture. Available now at MENDO
