Made by MENDOAbout the books
Who will recognize a great book better than a bookstore? A bookstore run by graphic designers. Here’s why: at MENDO we get market feedback seven days a week, we are blessed to be surrounded by a bunch of talented, inspiring people – photographers, writers and publishers – and after being a bookstore for more than 15 years, we can easily say we know what book aficionados are looking for. Don’t you agree that initiating, creating and realizing jaw-dropping books now, only comes natural?
A MENDO publication is a well-designed book with visually stunning creative content, browsed by people to be amazed and inspired. The subject-matter is one of our pre-defined curated categories, fashion, photography, interior, sport, lifestyle, food and traveling. In general, a MENDO book is a piece of furniture in itself.
Back in 2011 Taschen published Pretty Much Everything, a two volume limited edition box about Dutch fashion photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. That is, to date, one of the most beautiful books we’ve ever had here.
In 2013, Taschen has published the regular trade edition of that book. We love that, because we believe Inez and Vinoodh are the best in the business. Every single picture they deliver is just brilliant. Rich, colorful, vibrant, technically skilled, free, diverse and utterly creative – fit for both fashion magazines and the finest galleries. Two artists, one amazing vision.

"It is typical of the photographic art of van Lamsweerde and Matadin that they urge their image making to de-stabilise the pristine surfaces expected of consumer culture; to this end they make use, in turn, of the Gothic, inscrutability, androgyny, comedy, eroticism, surrealism, fantasy, montage, cinema, replication, image manipulation, Pop art, fetishism and art historical nuance."—Michael Bracewell
