Made by MENDO
About the booksWho will recognize a great book better than a bookstore? A bookstore run by graphic designers. Here’s why: at MENDO we get market feedback seven days a week, we are blessed to be surrounded by a bunch of talented, inspiring people – photographers, writers and publishers – and after being a bookstore for more than 15 years, we can easily say we know what book aficionados are looking for. Don’t you agree that initiating, creating and realizing jaw-dropping books now, only comes natural?
A MENDO publication is a well-designed book with visually stunning creative content, browsed by people to be amazed and inspired. The subject-matter is one of our pre-defined curated categories, fashion, photography, interior, sport, lifestyle, food and traveling. In general, a MENDO book is a piece of furniture in itself.
The Workshop
Dutch creatives and their workspaces
MENDO presents: The Workshop, a book that opens the doors of studios, ateliers and offices of Dutch creatives. The Workshop is an idea of Renée Leeuw and was photographed by Iris Duvekot and curated by Roomed. UPDATE: THE WORKSHOP IS SOLD OUT.
The environments in which creatives are at their most vulnerable and at their strongest
The Workshop opens doors which normally remain closed.
The doors to the ateliers, studios and workspaces of famous names such as Erwin Olaf, Ans Markus and Mart Visser, and new creatives such as Mae Engelgeer, Borre Akkersdijk and Guillaume Philibert.
The result is a unique and intimate portrait, in both image and word, of driven personalities and the environments in which they are at once most vulnerable and at their strongest—where they experiment, discover and seek until something comes into being which did not exist before.
Roomed
The Workshop contains workspaces of 25 Dutch creatives.
Studio RENS
The studio is divided into three areas with open construction allowing interconnection. The atelier feels like one space. The ground floor is the workspace and the showroom.
‘Imperfection is a luxury. That makes it unique.’

At the jeanmakers
The walls of Jason Denham's office are hung with old models of jeans. The jeans serve as decoration and source of inspiration for the new collections designed here.
Erwin Olaf
"A new idea often comes to me while I’m lounging on the sofa, for example, watching
a bad reality-TV show."

Renée Leeuw: I’m proud that my idea grew into something beautiful. I think that’s only possible because the people who made it happen really love their work. And the people the book depicts also do their work with love for what they do. This is reflected in the book.
