The subject-matter is one of our pre-defined curated categories, fashion, photography, interior, sport, lifestyle, food and traveling. In general, a MENDO book is a piece of furniture in itself.
A subjective barometer of fashion's evolving aesthetic and cultural norms
The return of an IDEA classic / favourite / best seller – SELF SERVICE, THE ADS. The first (and second) editions were subtitled 1994–2019. The new edition has three more years added and thirty more pages of very contemporary fashion advertising.
The book really was the best idea IDEA Books ever had — if only that were true — it was Ezra Petronio of Self Service’s idea. IDEA are just the beneficiaries. Almost any long running fashion magazine could have made this indispensable visual reference of fashion advertising. But they didn’t — Ezra did.
The new edition has all the original ads from the first edition — including the Nicolas Ghesquière era Balenciaga double page. AND… now includes Demna Balenciaga too. And, in addition to all your nineties Raf Simons, Helmut Lang, Prada favourites, the new book has Bottega Veneta et al.
